Pop-Art Power Hits Sarasota — Peter Max “Nine Liberties” Up for Bid at Sarasota Art & Dance Night

Limited-edition, signed lithograph joins a lineup of auction items to benefit Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.
Sarasota, FL — October 2025 — Presented by the Art Ovation Hotel and Vividiance, Sarasota Art and Dance Night returns on October 18, 2025, bringing together the region’s leading artists, performers, and patrons of the arts for an unforgettable evening of creativity and community. Among the highlights of the night will be the silent auction, headlined by a rare, signed limited-edition Peter Max lithograph titled “Nine Liberties.”
The signed and framed piece, valued upwards of $3,000 has been generously donated by Galerie La Plume of Osprey, Florida — a fine art gallery known for its investment-grade collections and portfolio of artists whose works are poised for long-term market growth. Located at 3983 Destination Drive, Suite 104 in Osprey, Galerie La Plume curates exceptional pieces by contemporary and modern masters. The donation was suggested by gallery owner Joseph Cohen, whose continued support of Sarasota’s arts community underscores the gallery’s dedication to cultural enrichment.
In addition to the Peter Max piece, Galerie La Plume has also donated “Un Mediodia”, a signed and numbered lithograph by Clemens Briehls, valued upwards of $1,500, further enhancing the fine art offerings available to bidders.
“We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to a community event that celebrates the arts while giving back to Sarasota,” said Collin Rowland, Gallery Director at Galerie La Plume. “Supporting Sarasota Art and Dance Night aligns perfectly with our mission to connect people with meaningful works of art and to elevate the city’s creative culture.”
The silent auction is an important attribute of Sarasota Art and Dance Night, helping raise vital funds for Marie Selby Botanical Gardens to support plant research, conservation, and educational initiatives. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on the donated Peter Max and Clemens Briehls artworks, along with other prestigious items from local retailers and sponsors.
The evening also includes a curated art exhibition hosted by Art Center Sarasota, featuring regional artists whose works capture the vibrancy and spirit of Sarasota’s creative community. Meanwhile, guests will enjoy a VIP gourmet dinner and a world-class performance showcase featuring dancers Kakha Turiashvili, Sanda Lungu, singer Ben Jacobs, Sarasota Contemporary Dance, and others — making it a night where visual art, live performance, and philanthropy converge.
“This event is a true celebration of Sarasota’s creative heartbeat,” said Susan Szantosi, Producer of Sarasota Art and Dance Night and founder of Vividiance. “Each performance, each piece of art, and every contribution from our community tells a story of connection, generosity, and shared purpose. The addition of works from Galerie La Plume is a beautiful reflection of how collaboration can elevate both the arts and the causes that matter most to our city.”
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities remain available, and the public is encouraged to attend and participate in the silent auction.
